The SPAS-15 is a mag-fed shotgun that, like the SPAS-12, has dual pump-action and semi-automatic controls.

To fire in semi-auto mode:
- Click left on the touchpad (Classic Controls) or the B Button (Streamlined Controls) to disengage the safety.
- Insert magazine into magwell, located underneath the receiver and in front of the trigger guard.
- Pull and release the bolt handle on the right side of the receiver.
- Aim and fire by pulling the trigger.
To switch to pump-action mode:
- Ensure that the safety off, the bolt in the forward position (there is a bolt release just above the trigger on the right side), the hammer is down (press the trigger to ensure that it is down), and no rounds chambered.
- Hold the weapon with both hands, and with your forward (foregrip) hand, click the touchpad left or right or the B Button. You should hear an audible click and the slide should now move.
- Loading is the same as with semi-auto mode, except that you will use the pump between each shot instead of the bolt handle.
- Repeat this procedure to switch back to semi-auto mode.
If you want to eject a shell without firing it, unlock the fore by holding up on the touchpad or the A Button, and the work the pump to eject the shell.

- The SPAS-15 Compact and Tactical have a folding stock.
- The SPAS-15 is a dual-mode shotgun, adjustable for semi-automatic or pump-action operation. Low-pressure rounds such as Flares, Dragon's Breath, and Cannonball require the operator to either cycle the bolt in between shots, or to switch the weapon to pump action mode.
